Working for Sustainable Solutions for Humans and Nature

Picture
I'm passionate about positive change. Since I could walk, I have loved exploring outside and observing nature. I was born in Montreal but lived half my life in the Northeast US, so I'm a bit of a Canadian-American hybrid. I felt incredibly lucky to spend four years studying wildlife biology at McGill University, where labs consisted of finding salamanders and listening to bird calls at Macdonald Campus. I spent a semester in Australia travelling and trying to find marsupials and tropical birds. When that adventure finished, I continued on to receive my Masters degree from University of Stirling, in Environmental Management. My free time in Scotland was spent hiking around lochs and bens and visiting my Scottish relatives. I took advantage of being close to the rest of Europe, and travelled to Germany, Sweden, and Belgium. I also spent two weeks in Sri Lanka, where the most exciting wildlife-spotting moment of my life happened: I saw a young wild leopard in Yala National Park!

I arrived back in Montreal in the summer of 2010, where I was happy to return to my family and friends in North America. Since then, I've been working on various sustainability projects in Montreal universities. I also keep a few beehives and try to preserve, can, and freeze as much local produce as possible. This year, I'm continuing my beehives and organic garden, and am always busy with a new project. My favourite thing to do is spend the weekend at my cottage in Sutton, Quebec, and walk quietly through the woods with my camera.

I'm currently an adjunct professor for Global Environmental Earth Science at Champlain College of Vermont (Montreal Campus). I'm also the Sustainability Coordinator for the Post-Graduate Students' Society (McGill).
